Before You Train
Liability Waiver.
Every student — adult or minor — must read, sign, and submit this waiver before their first class.
Release of Claims
Read carefully.
Assumption of Risk. I understand that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, grappling, and related martial arts training are physically demanding contact activities that carry an inherent risk of injury — including but not limited to sprains, strains, fractures, dislocations, concussions, and in rare cases catastrophic injury or death. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks.
Release & Waiver. In consideration of being permitted to participate in classes, open mats, private lessons, seminars, and competitions hosted or sanctioned by Shōgun Jiu Jitsu Academy ("Shōgun"), I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Shōgun, its owners, instructors, coaches, employees, training partners, and affiliates (including the Marcelo Garcia Jiu-Jitsu Association) from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of my participation.
Medical Authorization. I certify that I am physically fit to participate. In the event of injury, I authorize Shōgun staff to administer basic first aid and to seek emergency medical treatment on my behalf at my expense.
Code of Conduct. I agree to train with respect, control, and integrity. I will tap early and often, follow all instructor directives, maintain proper hygiene, and treat every training partner as family.
Media Release. I grant Shōgun permission to use photographs and video taken during training or events for promotional purposes, without compensation.
Minors. If the participant is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign on their behalf and accepts all terms above.
By signing below, I acknowledge I have read and understood this waiver.
